Due to the organic and handmade nature of our tile, there will be some variation in glaze color, shape, size and texture. Our variation is intentional and lends depth, character and uniqueness to each and every tile making them one of a kind—like an original work of art. We believe this is the hallmark of a product that is made by hand. The essence of perfection lies in imperfection–the result is timeless, beautiful design.
Tile variability is measured in 5 stages:
V1 - Low
V2 - Slight
V3 - Moderate
V4 - Heavy
V5 - Extremes here

Our terracotta clay is sourced locally in the Colorado Rockies, from nuisance sediment clogging the Paonia reservoir. It is raw, unprocessed, and rich in both color and quality. Our clay is a mixture of only three natural ingredients: mud, sand, and water. There are zero synthetic or chemical additives.
We are very passionate about the clay we gather, what it means within the history of the American West, and how to respect its energy through the products we create—all with the goal of unraveling some of the past harm done to the climate.

Sustainability isn’t just part of our process—it’s everything we do.
The term “sustainable” gets thrown around a lot these days, but it’s the foundation on which Particular Tile was built. It's our "why." Our company, and our products, were created as a solution to a local environmental problem—to remove nuisance mud from the Paonia Reservoir. Using this mud, we make our tiles entirely by hand and work to capture methane from abandoned coal mines in our local area to power the kilns. Particular Tile wants to be an example to others that manufacturing can be adjusted to do more than just create less harm—it can be the cause that helps reverse the issue.
